I'm Cait Sherwood, a mixed-media painter who works into art journals.

I make art from the trash of the art I made before.

Today's thoughts on painting:

The majority of my work feels like intuitive landscape.  I always want to depict and explore my natural surroundings.  It's quite hard for me to take on other subjects.

Each piece ends up being, to me, informed by my surroundings.  I can't tell if others would agree, that they might feel the relationship between a place and my painting.

Intuitive because I cannot be relied upon to draw and only draw.  I get distracted by patterns by relationships between colors, visual intervals.  I use color expressively and I gladly exaggerate.  I try to be open to what may come.
