I make art from the trash of the art I made before.


Here are some pictures from my studio this week!

When I paint I work into my art journal at the same time.  I use the journal as a palette much of the time.  I paint in many layers so it's nice to have a few things to work on simultaneously. As a layer is drying I switch paintings and work on something else for a while.

This is where this painting is ending up.  It's done now.  Gauguin's La Vita e la Morte.

This is how my paintings look in the first few layers.  It's mushy, it's muck.  It feels senseless. Things get crisper as I add layers and layers.
