Week 17/18: Sketchbooks
The past couple weeks I've just been fitting in the art making when I can, so it's been a lot of sketchbook work. A lot of these pages were made in the car on the way to King's Dominion. I just drew with my watercolor pencils as we drove and later I added more painted details.
I also used these new-to-me watercolor crayons (Marabu Art Crayons). I liked them a lot, they have a nice plastic cover so your hands stay cleaner and they have a super-slick quality when you draw, it almost felt like makeup or water or something. I usually use Neocolor Watercolor Crayons which are waxier. I think I still like those a little better but probably just because I am used to them. They are less slick/slippery and I like the color options better.
After all that sketchbook work I realized I needed to get back to painting (on canvas/panels) for my 100 day project. I felt uninspired but did it anyway, and made some interesting progress on a 14x14 inch wood panel:
That's all for now.
